Gary Engels founded Leadership Academy in August of 2005.

About Us

For 24 years, Mr. Engels (head instructor at Leadership Academy) has been training and coaching people, of all ages, in the process of learning and practicing the martial arts as a tool for learning and practicing the art of being a more complete, proactive, and empowered human being.

You see, this school stands for something far beyond the kick, the punch, and the throw.

We consider ourselves an integral part of the village that help parents instill valuable character traits, beliefs, and habits in their children, such as: self-discipline, the ability to stay calm under pressure, the appreciation of teachers, parents, and other mentors, and the value of proper diet, exercise, and education in a happy and fulfilling life.

For many adults and young-adults, we have been -and continue to be -a place to refuel, recharge, and remember the value of keeping one’s body fit, to keep the mind focused, and the spirit strong.

We teach a brand of self-defense that transcends our physical “art”
-and includes the self-defense skills of kindness, empathy, community, and compassion.

All graphic design/artwork is original and also completed by Gary. Anthony Codispoti of The Phoenix Way martial arts liked the site design and so hired Gary to complete his website as well… I’m sure you’ll see the resemblance. www.ThePhoenixWay.com. Another site that was created by Gary and modeled from this site was www.MinocquaPhotography.com. You’ll notice similarities there as well.
